There are daily trains and express buses from Oslo and Trondheim, and flights from Oslo Gardermoen every day except Saturdays. From Trondheim, it is a two-hour drive and from Oslo, the flight is a mere hour long.
By car
If you come by car, you are free to choose from a number of magnificent routes.
From Oslo
Following rv. 30 from Tynset is the most common route. It takes approximately 6 hours to drive from Oslo to Røros.
From Trondheim
Drive over Støren and Gauldalen to Røros, approximately 2 hours.
From Trondheim Airport Værnes
Drive through Selbu and Tydal and over the mountains to Røros, approximately 2 hours.
You can hire a car at Statoil in Røros.
By bus
Gauldal Billag offers regular routes and will be able to provide chartered buses on request. The company provides an express bus between Trondheim and Røros. Gauldal Billag can be contacted on phone + 47 72 40 62 00.
Nor-Way Bussekspress offers regular routes between Oslo and Røros, and Trondheim and Røros.
By plane
There are daily flights (except Saturdays) from Oslo Airport Gardermoen with Widerøe to Røros Airport. You may also charter planes to Røros Airport, and Røros Flyservice will be happy to arrange this for you.
You can also fly to Trondheim Airport Værnes, and drive a hire car to Røros, or you can take the bus or train.
By train
There are regular departures both from Oslo and Trondheim with the Norwegian State Railways (NSB).
By boat
MS Fæmund II, an excursion boat (not for cars), travels the Lake Femunden daily in the summer. It can take you from Elgå in Hedmark to Synnervika in the municipality of Røros, 30 kilometres from the town of Røros. From Synnervika, you may travel by bus to Røros.
